The English civil parish, Malmesbury lies in the county of Wiltshire. Three rivers that run in the surrounding area make it an interesting place to visit. Historically Malmesbury Wiltshire used to have a thriving textile industry thanks to the abundant supply of water and wool. But with the passage of time lace-making became the most optimal choice for the natives.

Malmesbury in recent times has emerged as an agricultural hub of the surrounding area. An agricultural market is held on a weekly basis to incorporate the needs and demands of the local people. Major multinational brands have opened their outlets on the High Street of the town.

One of the interesting tourist attractions includes Malmesbury Abbey. It is one of the fairly well known historical abbeys in this part of the world as it stands with all the grandeur from seventh century. During the course of time Malmesbury Abbey saw all kinds of variations. One interesting historical trivia about the Abbey indicates it as the earliest site of an attempt at human flight. A local monk tried to fly with the help of a hang glider from its tower. The library of Malmesbury Abbey contains some very remarkable Christian manuscripts. Those who are interested in the religious literature will be more then surprised to find such abundance of historical texts.

In the last two weeks of August a spectacular carnival is held with all the local vigour. Diverse activities take place during this time of the year ranging from glamorous music gigs to the group pillow fight
