High Wycombe Hotels and Guest Houses

High Wycombe is nothing if not a unique town. Located in the county of Buckhamshire, a county that was forever changed by the Industrial Revolution, High Wycombe sets itself apart from its peers by having never fully succumbed to the changing times. In other words, High Wycombe dabbled in industry but never became a full fledged industrial town. Instead, the town made sure that it kept the spirit that gave it its identity. To this day one can still see the traditional market square on High Street that the town has maintained since the days of vassals and feudal lords. It is truly refreshing to see a town that holds on to even a trace of its original charm and sadly this type of occurrence is all too rare.

High Wycombe isn't exactly a small town. It boasts over one hundred thousand people within its town limits and it has a sizable smattering of suburbs to accommodate folks who don't want to work in town. The town is also growing fairly quickly and is garnering notice from all around England for the massive infrastructure work that is being undertaken for future apartment buildings and hotels. The main feature of Eden Shopping Centre, with 107 shops, new restaurants, a large bowling alley and cinema and new housing. The old Octagon shopping centre was connected to the new development. The complex is seen an a major milestone in the regeneration of the town, and is one of the largest in the country.

To the east of the town centre is the extensive Rye park. The River Wye flows through the site as well as a large ornamental lake known as the dyke. The park is particularly attractive during the summer where you can hire rowing boats, fishing, walk and participate in sports activities.The High Street (pedestrianised in the early nineties) has a number of 18th and 19th The large parish church of All Saints was founded in 1086 but enlarged in the 18th century and extensively restored in 1889. There is a large well-equipped theatre, the Wycombe Swan, which hosts many acts and shows prior to or following the West End.
