A large part of the Snowdonia National Park can be found in Caernarfon, Gwynedd. Gwynedd is set on the sea so it allows visitors to enjoy the mountains as well as the ocean. The Majestic Caernarfon Castle is located in Gwynedd and is a popular place people visit. It is flanked by mountains to one side and the sea on the other making it a wonderful place for site seeing.

The Segontium Roman Fort was believed to be established some time in 77 AD. The remnants of the fort can bee seen from the Segontium Museum that rest near to it. The museum is the home to many magnificent artifacts from the Roman times as well including pottery, weapons and much more. It is a very popular museum. Caernarfon also has a great deal of natural beauty for visitors to enjoy and there are many activities that are held outdoors which include swimming, biking, hiking and boating plus wonderful options for playing golf.

The castles architectural structure is said to be one of the grandness in all of Wales. It was originally built to be a seat of power for royalty and to symbolize England's control over Wales. It was built by Edward I in 1283 and is seen as one of the most beautiful castles that Wales has to offer shortly after he defeated the Llewellyn the Last. Edward I also established the town there after destroying the previous settlement. The symbolic importance of the castles was further established when Edward I made certain that the first English Prince of Wells, his son, was delivered there in 1284.

The castle never fully fulfilled Edward I's plans and in fact the Prince left it never to return. Although it continued to be cared for and fought off many attacks from Owain Glynwr from 1403 to 1404. It was finally given over to Parliamentary forces in 1646 during the civil war. The World Heritage Site received worldwide recognition in 1969 when Prince Charles was ordained the Prince of Wales in the Castle.
