Of the many historical sites to visit in Shrewsbury the Shrewsbury Abbey is one that shouldn't be missed. Built in 1083 this abbey has grown to become one of the most influential and important abbeys in the United Kingdom. Visitors can come and tour the abbey but it is requested that you contact the abbey's main office during business hours to set up the tour. You can come and worship at the abbey when it is open from 10:30 to 3:00pm daily but their morning prayers are said at 8:30 am. Sunday morning services are at 10am every Sunday for those that are interested.
Dating back to 1070 Shrewsbury Castle is another stop that many visitors make. Originally built mainly out of timber, the Shrewsbury Castle that is left today is a red sand stone structure that was restored in 1790. Visitors can tour the town and view a collection of weapons, uniforms and other great artifacts that date from the 1700s up to the present day.

This festival is normally held in late August or early September. Check out the festival website for more information on the dates of the festival and what to expect during that year's festivities.

You will find paths that twist, turn, rise and fall giving you beautiful views and unexpected areas to discover. While visiting this park make sure you check out the monuments, tunnels and passageways many are associated with King Arthur himself.
