Pembroke is surrounded by seas on three sides. Its mainstay is the tourism industry but it's also very dependent on it agriculture plus the liquid natural gas and petrochemical industries that have grown along the banks. Pembroke has a multitude of vital sites for seabirds to breed on its coasts plus many sandy beaches and bay. Pembrokeshire has a National Park that is mainly coastal that goes by the name of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. There is a one hundred and eighty six walking tack that is called the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

In 1138 the county was founded and Gilbert de Clare was set as the first Earl of Pembroke. The county is split by English speaking on the south side and those who speak Welsh in the north. The dividing point is named Landsker. In 1536 the Act of Union split the county up into hundreds and then the modifications using the lines of the ancient subdivisions that date back before the Norman times. Pembrokeshire has the Radio Pembrokeshire, Radio Carnarthenshire and Scarlet FM located in Narbeth which see over one hundred thousand weekly visitors.

Cleddau Community Media, an independent media organization, got its start in 2004 at Pembroke Dock. The company has developed three different community radio pilot broadcast from studio especially made for them that are in Llanreath and go by the name Cleddau FM. There are also five area newspapers with the largest, which is part of the Newsquest group, the Western Telegraph. The counties independent site on the internet give in depth information about the counties many sporting events. Gwen John, an artist, as well as her brother Augustus both came from Pembrokeshire. Also from 1946 to 1936 Graham Sutherland used the landscape of the area to inspire the many paintings he produced locally.

There are many bus and train services for the town but rural areas are not able to access the public transit system. There are not at present time any major motorways but there is a push to make one from St. Clears to Haverfordwest to make what they have now a full motorway. Currently it sees a great deal of traffic from Fishguard, a ferry port which goes southward to Haverfordwest and the connects to a double carriageway in St. Clears.
