Located on the southwest cost of Wales is the quaint town of Fishguard. This small town is known for its seaside location. As the name implies the town makes it's living off of the sea fishing and the nearby harbor that bares its name.

Being located in the county of Pembrokeshire means, that visitors to the Fishguard area will have no shortage of beaches to visit. Fishguard is known as the capital of North Pembrokeshire and is often a great base point for many that are there to tour the beaches of Pembrokeshire. Fishguard is home to a couple of small beaches itself. The Slade is a tine beach that those who want peace and relaxation can go to enjoy. This pretty much forgotten location is located in the Lower Town area of Fishguard. Home to beauty and serenity visitors that just want to lounge about and soak up the sun can visit this tiny beach and not worry about the crowds.

Another of Fishguard's beaches is Goodwich Parrog. This beach over looks Fishguard harbor and is sheltered by a breakwater. It is a popular with families and is safe for those who want to swim as well as sunbathe. There are also plenty of surrounding shops and cafes for visitors to enjoy while they are visiting Goodwich Parrog.

If you are wishing to find a beach that is a little more pebble and not as much sand then take a trip up to Newport Parrog. This small sand and pebble beach is popular with the local boat club and is close to the town center of Newport which allows visitors to take in some of the shops and eateries during their visit before heading back to Fishguard. As with all of Pembrokeshire's many beaches these beaches are all awarded the coveted Blue Flag Award so you can be sure that you family is swimming and playing on the cleanest beaches.

If you are looking for scenery then Fishguard has it. Located on an imposing headland the town has beautiful breathtaking views of the bay. You can wander the Marine Walk to see many of the coastal views that are absolutely picture perfect.

Shopping is not an issue here either. Fishguard is considered to be the main shopping center of North Pembrokeshire county. Where there are a few name-brand stores most of the shops in this area are smaller family run businesses. You can find some unique items during your stay here. There are also several pubs, restaurants and cafes in the town for foodies to enjoy.

Fshguard is also home to Lota Park. Here children and adults can enjoy the leisure center and park atmosphere. You can relax and play no matter the weather.

For those that are interested in Welsh history, located just outside of Fishguard is a stone monument commemorating the signing of the Peace Treaty after the final British invasion in 1797. Stop by and take a look to see the plaque and monument to this turning point in Welsh history.
