On the northern bank of the River Tyne is the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Settled in the second sentry AD as Pons Aelius by the Romans, Newcastle has become mainly a business and cultural center. It is also known for having a reputable nightlife. It's also the birthplace and home to Newcastle Brown Ale. There are several places for visitors to enjoy during their stay.

A popular stop is the Great North Museum. Visitors can view a life-size T-Rex dinosaur skeleton, mummies straight from ancient Egypt. They can also enjoy an interactive model of Hadrian's Wall. Another Popular stop is the Tynemouth Castle and Priory. This Tynemouth Castle and Prior is a fortress and religious area overlooking Tynemouth Pier. One of the things that Newcastle is known for is its nightlife. The place that most people start is Central Station. Home to several different pubs for visitors to enjoy, this is where the Newcastle pub crawl starts. If you are looking for a place with a dress code that is casual but not too casual then you need to go to Revolution. This modern vodka bar has architecture that is impressive. Musical styles range from pop and indie to rhythm and blues. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of vodkas and cocktails.

If you are looking for a traditional Irish Pub, then head to O'Neill's. O'Neill's is probably best known for its hen/stag parties and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. O'Neill's also offers an Irish breakfast starting at 10 every morning. If you are interested in football or rugby this is the place to settle.

Another area on the "pub crawl" list is the Quayside area. Quayside is a favorite for the young. A good start for the night life is Bob Trollop's. This pub is known for its wonderful views of the Tyne Bridge and its award-winning vegetarian cuisine. If you a vegetarian then this should be your first stop.

If you are wanting something a little more designer and a little more entertaining then you should check out Thirty 3i8ght. This bar has karaoke, comedy, DJs and live music. It also has a full menu and offer tea and coffee for those that are interested.
