Croydon, located in the greater London area and a borough of London, is a modern economic hub, but has features that many such modern hubs may lack; deep roots into a vibrant past, and a continued sense of identity. Croydon is also a welcome home to various rock and modern alternative scenes, including a musical fusion of Caribbean and British styling, something of a synthesis of the musical heart of the two cultures, which have shared a history to some extent for several centuries.

While in Croydon, one should also deeply imbibe the centuries of local history housed at the Museum of Croydon, which also will house a variety of temporary exhibits from around the world, perhaps underscoring the now international vibrancy that meshes nicely with the local ambiance. As with other London Boroughs, Croydon is home to a variety of parks and open spaces, dedicated to outdoor play and to the preservation of the UK's natural resources. Many are family friendly, and contain playgrounds for the kids to enjoy themselves, while the parents are free to book many parks for a festive family occasion. Before one leaves, be sure to sample the panoply of cuisine, from British pub food to all variety of international fare.

While one things of London predominantly as a modern, bustling city of glass and steel, it does contain gems such as Croydon, and they should be appreciated for their ease and accoutrements.
