The seaside town of Southport is located not far from Liverpool England in the county of Merseyside. Bordering the Irish Sea this town attracts tourists from all over with its wonderful Victorian architecture, attractive tree-lined shopping streets and of course it's beautiful beach. It is also home to many activities for the whole family and even one or two unusual stops to make.'

What town that is on the seaside would be a visitor spot without a beach? Southport is no different. The main part of Southport Beach is an absolutely wonderful place for families to enjoy the day. Here you can swim in the sea, build sandcastles or even do some kite surfing. All the while being situated next to one of the United Kingdom's oldest piers in which you can get a stunning panoramic view of the sea and its beach.

While at the beach make sure you do visit the Southport Pier. Here you can ride the tram on the mile long journey to the end of the pier where you will find attractions and displays that exhibit the local wildlife and coastline. There are also an array of cafes and penny slot machines for you to enjoy.

For those that want to enjoy the fun of the water but don't want to go to the beach then you need to check out Dunes Splash World. Here you can enjoy a wide away of water features including a lazy river, four lane multi slide, and tube ride. There are also many games and a poolside cafeteria for those that just can't stand the thought of getting out of the pool. There is also a toddler pool, sauna cabin and leisure pool in the complex for those who just want to enjoy the water without the rides.

For people who want to enjoy the abundant nature that Southport has to offer there are a variety of parks and gardens in the area to enjoy. One of the nicest parks in the Southport area is Victoria Park. While it is home to the Southport Flower Show it also has places for children to play, lawn areas for ball games and picnics and even has a miniature steam train that runs during the weekends. If it is shopping that you are interested in then Southport has you covered. There tree lined streets house not only designer names but also many local shops too. With several shopping districts to choose from you can find some unique finds all over the town. One of the most popular covered shopping areas is Wayfarer's Arcade. This Stain glass domed roof structure is home to many different boutiques, gift shops and jewelers. You can find many designers, independent retailers, and specialty stores here.

One of the most unique attractions that Southport has to offer visitors is the Lawnmower Museum. Here visitors can learn about and view over three hundred rare exhibits of garden machinery. There are actual mowers, blue prints, and history from all over the world.

Southport has it all, shopping, sites, and even something a little unique for those that are interested.
