Located just west of the city center this complex has gardens, the Great Hall, The Ch, the Church of St. Mary de Castro, the castle yard and the remains of the castle itself. Visitors can views these monumental areas and even attend a service at the Church of St Mary de Castro, which is still in use today. The remains of the castle itself are simply a mound and some ruins the rest of the original structure is long since gone.

Built on the west bank of the River Soar, the Abby of Saint Mary de Pratis was founded an Augustinian Cannon community. The property passed from hand to hand, becoming home to many different types of things other than being an abbey. The house was burnt down after the royalist defeated and was never rebuilt. The abbey is now a part of the Victorian park and is considered a scheduled monument.
