The seaside resort of Eastbourne East Sussex was settled around 1315. In 1717 there was a Roman bath and section of pavement was discovered between the present pier and fortress in the hamlet. After the railway cut through the town, Eastbourne became known as a seaside resort. It is still known for being a seaside resort even today.

For many people the outdoors is the place to start. Beachy Head is the most popular area of Eastbourne Downland. Rising 162 meters above the sea, Beachy Head is the highest chalk sea cliff in the British Isles. Mainly the reason for Beachy Head being so popular is because of the beautiful views. If you look west you can see almost 70 miles, looking east you can see all of the beaches and the town of Eastbourne.

Another popular outdoor stop is the Pier. Built in 1870's It has many different restaurants and entertainment centers for almost every age group. There are also a lot of different souvenir shops for you to get alot of different unique items for you to take home. The Pier is also home to the only fully functioning 360 degree Victorian projector, Camera Obscura.

For those who enjoy a rousing game of golf then take a trip over to the Eastbourne Golfing Park. Here you can play their nine challenging holes of golf. Or if you don't feel like trying to sink the put but want to work on your driving then you can use their all weather driving range. Eastbourne Golfing Park also has PGA professionals on staff to offer lessons for those that are interested.

Eastbourne is also home to many family activities such as Fort Fun. This two acre amusement park has not only rides but concessions and picnic areas. Families can either pay as they ride, for those who know they are only going to ride a few rides, or purchase an armband which gives the wearer unlimited rides during their visit.

Eastbourne is also home to numerous indoor activities for families as well. The Howe We Lived then Museum of Shops is a popular indoor attraction. With over 100,000 exhibitions this four floor museum gives the visitors a taste of authentic Victorian style. Whether it's shops, displays or room settings there is lots to see and learn. Visitors can also view doll house miniatures during their visit.

For those who want more fun and adventure than a simple museum then try the Trax Indoor Karting Center. Here visitors of all ages can enjoy the thrills and fun of indoor karting, and the best part . . no experience driving is required. As long as you are at least five feet tall then you are eligible to drive. You don't have to drive to visit and enjoy the excitement, spectators are welcome.

There are a large amount of restaurants for families and adults alike. With a variety of types of cuisines to enjoy, from American to Greek, Italian to Chinese and plenty of takeaways and fast food to choose from as well.
